Seniors' Tips

Fantastic gift for weddings

Great wedding gift idea: give the couple a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary & another of St. Joseph. Add a note for the couple to take Mary & St. Joseph as their guide in marriage and in life...and they will be happy now and forevermore, no matter what may come their way. They will remember this advice every time they look at the statues.

Suffering like a Catholic

As we age and suffer more diverse pains, it is good to keep in mind that what the elect suffers willingly here will be rewarded in heaven. Offer all those pains up! Offer them for your loved ones and others in need. They are like precious jewels. No matter what our condition, we have always something to offer if we offer up our sufferings. Virgin most sorrowful, pray for us.

Don't be discouraged

Dear fellow Catholic, don't be discouraged, in the end God wins! In the meantime, pray and offer up your troubles to God. He loves you so much! Things of this earth are fleeting. Our true home is in Heaven. Maybe try some spiritual reading of beloved saints, perhaps St. Therese. And pray to the Blessed Virgin and your own beloved patron saint. I am sure they will help you so very much.

Comforting expression

It is a comfort for me to think of the phrase "Love is stronger than death." It so true and so comforting.

Offer up sufferings

We all need a reminder sometimes to offer up our sufferings. The challenges will pass, but our rewards will always remain.

Trusting and being trustworthy

One thing I have learned over the years is to trust God always. Then work on making it so He can trust you always.

Heavenly Thoughts

The flowers at your feet

Passing on some wisdom. . . "When men are too busy trying to reach every glorious star in the sky, they fail to see the gorgeous flowers that blossom at their feet." So true. Thank the good Lord for what we have.

Seniors' Tips

Another tip

I agree, it's a good idea to write down your wishes. I suggest also putting your wishes as the background in your cell phone and other electronic gizmos. Put a prominent note to call a Roman Catholic priest in case of illness or injury so if they turn it on they will know your wishes straight away.

Seniors' Wisdom

Write your wishes down

Do yourself a favor, write your wishes down. Especially when it comes to religious matters and your family isn't Catholic. If you don't, you might find that your non-Catholic relative gets to make the decisions for you. I couldn't even get a priest to come give anointing to my devoutly Catholic friend because I'm not family and they don't want to "offend" the family. Fear of offense now apparently comes before fear for the person's soul. What a fouled up age this is! Write your wishes down or you may suffer later.
