Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

O Our Lady of Guadalupe, mystical rose, make intercession for Holy Church, protect the Sovereign Pontiff, help all those who invoke thee in their necessities, and since thou art the ever Virgin Mary and Mother of the true God, obtain for us from thy most holy Son the grace of keeping our faith, sweet hope in the midst of the bitterness of life, burning charity and the precious gift of final perseverance. Amen. (Raccolta)

Prayer to Our Lady of La Salette

Remember, our Lady of La Salette, true Mother of sorrows, the tears which thou didst shed for me on Calvary; be mindful also of the unceasing care which thou dost exercise to screen me from the justice of God; and consider whether thou canst now abandon thy child, for whom thou hast done so much. Inspired by this consoling thought, I come to cast myself at thy feet, in spite of my infidelity and ingratitude. Reject not my prayer, O Virgin of reconciliation, convert me, obtain for me the grace to love Jesus Christ above all things and to console thee too by living a holy life, in order that one day I may be able to see thee in heaven. Amen. (Raccolta)

Prayer to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart

Remember, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, what ineffable power thy divine Son hath given thee over His own adorable Heart. Filled with confidence in thy merits, we come before thee and implore thy protection. O heavenly Treasurer of the Heart of Jesus, that Heart which is the inexhaustible source of all graces, which thou mayest open to us at thy good pleasure, in order that from it may flow forth upon mankind the riches of love and mercy, light and salvation, that are contained therein; grant unto us, we beseech thee, the favors which we seek...We can never, never be refused by thee, and since thou art our Mother, O Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, graciously receive our prayers and grant our request. Amen. (Raccolta)

Virgin most holy, Mother of the Word Incarnate, Treasurer of graces, and Refuge of us poor sinners; we fly to thy motherly affection with lively faith, and we beg of thee the grace ever to do the will of God. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary (8)

O holy root, O living root, O flower and vine and olive, no ingrafted energy made thee fruitful; light of the earth and brightness of heaven, thou outshinest the sun in splendor; present us to thy Son, that He judge us not sternly. In presence of the Most High King, be mindful of the little flock, which, though it has transgressed the law given it, dares to hope for pardon; the Judge, who is mild and merciful, Judge worthy of everlasting praise, becoming the victim of the Cross, gave to the guilty the pledge of hope.

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary (9)

Immaculate Virgin, refuge of sinners thou who, in order to atone for the injuries done to Almighty God and the evils inflicted on men by sin, didst accept with resignation the death of thy divine Son, be ever propitious toward us, and in heaven, where thou dost reign gloriously, continue in our behalf thy work of zeal and love. We would be thy children: do thou still show thyself a Mother. Obtain from Jesus, our divine Redeemer, that He may be pleased to apply to our souls the fruits of His passion and death, and deliver us from the bonds of our iniquities. May He be our light in the midst of darkness, our strength in weakness, our refuge in the midst of peril; may He strengthen us by His grace and love in this world, and grant us to love Him, see Him and possess Him in the world to come. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary (10)

O Virgin, fair as the moon, in whom the heavens rejoice, upon whose face the blessed gaze, and whom the Angels acknowledge as their model; make us, thy children, like unto thee by shedding upon our souls a ray of thy beauty such as will not grow dim with passing time, but will shine for all eternity. O Mary, thou mystic sun, reawaken life wherever there is death, and cast thy light on souls where shadows fall. Let thy image be mirrored in the faces of thy children, and grant to us to reflect thy light and thy ardor. O Mary, powerful as an army, grant victory to our ranks. We are so weak, and our proud enemy unceasingly rages against us. But under thy standard we have the sure hope of conquering him, for he knows the power of thy heel and trembles at the majesty of thy countenance. Save us, O Mary, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, powerful as an army set in array, whose strength lies not in hate but in the most glowing love. Amen. (Raccolta)

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary (11)

O most excellent, most glorious, most holy and ever inviolate Virgin Mary, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, Queen of the whole world and Mistress of every creature; thou forsakest no one, thou despisest no one, thou sendest away disconsolate no one who comes to thee with a pure and lowly heart; despise me not for my countless grievous sins, neither forsake me for my exceeding iniquities, nor for the hardness and uncleanness of my heart; cast me not away, who am thy servant, from thy grace and love. Graciously hear me, a miserable sinner, trusting in thy tender mercy; come to my assistance, O most loving Virgin Mary, in all my tribulations, trials and necessities; obtain for me of thy dear Son, Almighty God and our Lord Jesus Christ, the forgiveness and remission of all my sins, and the grace of fear and the love of thee; health likewise and chastity of body, and deliverance from all evils and dangers which beset both soul and body. In my last moments do thou graciously assist me, and deliver my soul and the souls of my parents, brothers, sisters and friends, kinsmen and benefactors, and of all faithful Christians, both living and departed, from eternal darkness and from all evil, by the grace of Him whom thou didst bear in thy sacred womb for nine long months, and didst lay in the manger with thine own pure hands, even our Lord Jesus Christ thy Son who is blessed for ever. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary (Patroness)

Most holy Mary, great Queen of heaven, the very treasure of life and ever-flowing channel of divine grace, by thine ineffable virtues thou wast so pleasing in the sight of God, that thou didst merit to conceive in thy virginal womb the very Author of life and of grace, Jesus Christ our Lord; and by becoming the Mother of the God-made man, thou didst become likewise the Mother of redeemed humanity. Mother, therefore, of grace and of life, of mercy and forgiveness, turn upon me thy motherly countenance; behold my many miseries both in body and soul; raise me up to a state of perfect friendship with Almighty God, obtain for me the grace of final perseverance. And since thy prayers, O Mary, are all-powerful with our Lord, permit me, miserable as I am, to choose thee as my special patroness. With the help of thy mighty intercession I am sure to obtain from thy divine Son all the graces necessary to serve God faithfully. In such wise thou wilt show thyself unto me the Mother of divine grace as indeed thou art. And I, thanks to the assistance obtained by thee, will be enabled to live in holiness on earth and hereafter will enjoy the happy lot of praising thee eternally in heaven. Amen. (Raccolta)

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary for Heretics and Schismatics

O Mary, Mother of mercy and Refuge of sinners, we beseech thee, be pleased to look with pitiful eyes upon poor heretics and schismatics. Thou who art the Seat of Wisdom, enlighten the minds that are miserably enfolded in the darkness of ignorance and sin, that they may clearly know that the Holy Catholic Church is the one true Church of Jesus Christ, outside of which neither holiness nor salvation can be found. Call them to the unity of the one fold, granting them the grace to accept all the truths of our holy Faith, and to submit themselves to the Supreme Roman Pontiff, the Vicar of Jesus Christ on earth; that so, being united with us in the sweet chains of divine charity, there may soon be only one fold under the same one Shepherd; and may we all, O glorious Virgin, sing forever with exultation: Rejoice O Virgin Mary, thou only hast destroyed all heresies in the whole world. Amen. Hail Mary... Hail Mary... Hail Mary... (Raccolta)

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary for Protection Against Evil Spirits

'Who is like unto God?' O good and tender Mother, thou shalt ever be our hope and the object of our love. O Mother of God, send forth the holy Angels to defend me and drive far from me the cruel foe. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary for the Church

Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God and our Mother, Mary, thou seest the attacks that are everywhere made by the devil and the world upon the Catholic faith, in which, by God's grace, we intend to live and die, in order that we may attain to eternal glory. Do thou, the Help of Christians, renew thine ancient victories and save thy children. They entrust to thee their firm purpose never to enroll themselves in societies hostile to our holy religion; do thou, who art all holy, present to thy divine Son our good resolutions and obtain for us the grace we need to be unshaken in their observance even to the end of life. Console the visible Head of the Church, sustain the Catholic episcopate, protect the clergy and people who proclaim thee Queen; by the power of thine intercession hasten the day when all nations shall be gathered at the feet of the chief Shepherd. Amen. Mary, Helper of Christians, pray for us! (Raccolta)

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary for the Return of Separated Brethren

O Virgin immaculate, thou who by a singular privilege of grace was preserved from original sin, look in pity upon our separated brethren, who are nevertheless thy children, and call them back to the center of unity. Not a few of them, although separated from the Church, have kept a certain veneration for thee; and do thou, generous as thou art, reward them for it, by obtaining for them the grace of conversion. Thou wast conqueror of the infernal serpent from the first instant of thy existence; renew even now, for it is now more necessary than ever before, thine ancient triumphs; glorify thy divine Son, bring back to Him the sheep that have strayed from the one fold and place them once more under the guidance of the universal Shepherd who holds the place of thy Son on earth; let it be thy glory, O Virgin who destroyest all heresies, to restore unity and peace once more to all the Christian people. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Help of Christians

Most holy and immaculate Virgin Mary, our tender Mother and mighty Help of Christians, we dedicate ourselves wholly to thy dear love and holy service. We dedicate to thee our minds and all our thoughts, our hearts and all our affections, our bodies and all our senses and all our strength; we promise to be ever willing to labor for the greater glory of God and the salvation of souls. Meanwhile, do thou, O incomparable Virgin, who hast ever been the helper of the Christian people, continue to show thyself to be so in these our days. Bring low the enemies of our holy religion and frustrate their wicked designs. Enlighten and strengthen our Bishops and our priests; keep them always in close union and obedience to the Pope, their infallible Teacher; preserve thoughtless youth from sin and irreligion; increase holy vocations and multiply the number of the sacred ministers, that by means of them the kingdom of Jesus Christ may be preserved amongst us and be extended even to the uttermost parts of the earth. We pray thee, moreover, dear Mother, to keep thine eyes of mercy ever turned upon young men and maidens, who are exposed to so many dangers, as well as upon poor sinners and those who are dying; be thou, O Mary, to them all a source of sweet hope, thou who art the Mother of mercy and the Gate of heaven. But also for ourselves do we pour forth our supplications, O mighty Mother of God. Teach us to show forth in our lives thy virtues, especially angelic purity, deep humility and burning love; so by our demeanor, our words and our example may we, according as it is given to us, be living images of thy blessed Son Jesus in the midst of the world, and make thee known and loved, in the sure hope that thus we may succeed in bringing many souls to salvation. Grant unto us, O Mary, thou Help of Christians, to be gathered under thy maternal protection. May the thought of the love thou bearest toward thy devoted clients be unto us so great a source of strength as to make us victors over the enemies of our salvation, both in life and in death, that so we may come to stand about thee in the beauty of paradise. Amen. (Raccolta)

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Consolation

O Mary Immaculate, our Mother and Consolation, I take refuge in thy most loving heart with all the confidence of which I am capable; thou shalt be the dearest object of my love and veneration. To thee, who art the dispenser of the treasures of heaven, I shall always have recourse in my sorrows to have peace, in my doubts to have light, in my dangers to be defended, in all my needs to obtain thy assistance. Be therefore my refuge, my strength, my consolation, O Mary the Consoler! At the hour of my death, graciously receive the last sighs of my heart and obtain for me a place in thy heavenly home, where all hearts shall praise with one accord the adorable Heart of Jesus for evermore as well as thy most lovable heart, O Mary. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Divine Providence

Mary, immaculate Virgin and Mother of divine Providence, keep my soul with the fullness of thy grace: do thou govern my life and direct it in the way of virtue to the fulfillment of the divine will. Obtain for me the pardon and remission of all my sins; be thou my refuge, my protection, my defense and my guide in my pilgrimage through the world; comfort me in the midst of tribulation; bring me safe through every danger; in the storms of adversity afford me thy sure protection. Obtain for me, O Mary, the renewal of my heart within me, that it may become a holy dwelling place for thy divine Son Jesus; keep far from me, who am so weak and miserable, every kind of sin, negligence, lukewarmness, cowardice, and human respect. Dear Mother of divine Providence, turn thy motherly gaze upon me, and if, through weakness or malice, I have provoked the threats of the eternal Judge and saddened the Sacred Heart of my dear Jesus, do thou cover me with the mantle of thy protection and I shall be safe. Thou art the Mother of Providence; thou art the Virgin of pardon; thou art my hope on earth. Grant that I may have thee as my Mother in the glory of heaven. Amen. (Raccolta)

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Good Hope

O Mary immaculate, the precious name of Mother of Good Hope, with which we honor thee, fills our hearts to overflowing with the sweetest consolation and moves us to hope for every blessing from thee. If such a title has been given to thee, it is a sure sign that no one has recourse to thee in vain. Above all do we pray thee to make us live in constant union with thee and thy divine Son Jesus. With thee as our guide, we are certain that we shall ever walk in the right way; in such wise that it will be our happy lot to hear thee say on the last day of our life those words of comfort; 'Come then, my good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.' Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, glory of the Christian people, joy of the universal Church, salvation of the world*; pray for us, and awaken in all the faithful devotion to the Holy Eucharist in order that they render themselves worthy to receive it daily.

*Note: Phrases such as this should not be taken out of context. Catholics know that redemption comes from Christ, however, they do acknowledge the fact that Christ made his coming to earth dependent upon the fiat of Mary - that, by the will of God, redemption would not be possible without the Virgin's consent - and that her intercession is a powerful aid to salvation. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace

Most holy Virgin, Mother of God and our most loving Mother, by thy divine maternity thou didst merit to share in thy divine Son's prerogative of universal kingship; we, thy most humble servants and devoted children, feel ourselves comforted by the thought that, as it pleased the Redeemer of mankind to have Himself announced by the Prophets and by the Angels at Bethlehem under the glorious title of King of Peace, so too it must be pleasing to thee to hear thyself saluted and honored by us under the title of Queen of Peace, a title that is so dear to thy motherly heart; it is an invocation poured forth with great fervor from our hearts. May thy powerful intercession ward off from thy people all hatred and discord, and direct their hearts in the ways of peace and brotherhood, which Jesus Christ came to teach and enforce among men for the prosperity and safety of all, and in which paths Holy Church does not cease to guide our steps. Vouchsafe, O glorious Queen, to regard with kindly eyes and to crown with success the paternal solicitude, wherewith the Sovereign Pontiff, the Vicar on earth of thy divine Son, continually seeks to call together and unite the nations about the only center of saving Faith; grant that to us also in filial submission to our common Father, it may be given to correspond wholeheartedly with his salutary designs. Enlighten the rulers of our country as to those same designs; quicken and maintain peace and concord in our families, peace in our hearts and Christian charity throughout all the world. Amen. Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Rosary (1)

O Virgin Immaculate and Queen of the Rosary, in these days of dead faith and triumphant impiety, thou hast been pleased to establish thy throne as Queen and Mother in the ancient land of Pompeii, once the home of paganism. From that place, where men of old worshipped idols and evil spirits, do thou this day, as the Mother of divine graces scatter far and wide the treasures of heaven's mercy. Ah, from that throne where though reignest in mercy, turn, dear Mother, thine eyes of pity even upon me and be gracious unto me who have so great need of thine assistance. Show thyself to me, even as thou hast shown thyself to so many others, a true Mother of mercy: 'Monstra te esse Matrem' (Show Thyself a Mother); while with all my heart I salute thee and invoke thee as my sovereign Lady and Queen of the most holy Rosary. Queen of the most holy Rosary, in these times of such brazen impiety, manifest thy power with the signs of thine ancient victories, and from thy throne, whence thou dost dispense pardon and graces, mercifully regard the Church of thy Son, His Vicar on earth, and every order of clergy and laity, who are sore oppressed in the mighty conflict. Do thou, who art the powerful vanquisher of all heresies, hasten the hour of mercy, even though the hour of God's justice is every day provoked by the countless sins of men. For me who am the least of men, kneeling before thee in supplication, do thou obtain the grace I need to live righteously upon earth and to reign among the just in heaven, the while in company with all faithful Christians and throughout the world, I salute thee and acclaim thee as Queen of the most holy Rosary: Queen of the most holy Rosary, pray for us. Reminder: Wording / capitalization / punctuation / etc. may vary

English

Latin

(Why Latin?)

At the Cross her station keeping,

Stood the mournful Mother weeping,

Close to Jesus to the last.

Through her heart, His sorrow sharing,

All His bitter anguish bearing,

Now at length sword had passed.

O how sad and sore distressed

Was that Mother, highly blessed

Of the sole-begotten One!

Christ above in torment hangs,

She beneath beholds the pangs

Of her dying glorious Son.

Is there one who would not weep,

Whelmed in miseries so deep,

Christ's dear Mother to behold?

Can the human heart refrain

From partaking in her pain,

In that Mother's pain untold?

Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled,

She beheld her tender Child,

All with bloody scourges rent.

For the sins of His own nation,

Saw Him hang in desolation,

Till his spirit forth He sent.

O thou Mother! fount of love,

Touch my spirit from above,

Make my heart with thine accord.

Make me feel as thou hast felt;

Make my soul to glow and melt

With the love of Christ my Lord.

Holy Mother, pierce me through!

In my heart each wound renew

Of my Savior crucified.

Let me share with thee His pain,

Who for all my sins was slain,

Who for me in torment died.

Let me mingle tears with thee,

Mourning Him who mourned for me,

All the days that I may live.

By the Cross with thee to stay,

There with thee to weep and pray,

Is all I ask of thee to give.

Virgin of all virgins blest,

Listen to my fond request:

Let me share thy grief divine.

Let me, to my latest breath,

In my body bear the death

Of that dying Son of thine.

Wounded with His every wound,

Steep my soul till it hath swooned

In His very blood away.

Be to me, O Virgin, nigh,

Lest in flames I burn and die,

In His awful Judgment Day.

Christ, when Thou shalt call me hence,

Be Thy Mother my defense,

Be Thy Cross my victory.

While my body here decays,

May my soul Thy goodness praise,

Safe in Paradise with Thee.

Amen.

Stabat Mater dolorósa

Iuxta Crucem lacrimósa,

Dum pendébat Fílius.

Cuius ánimam geméntem

Contristátam et doléntem

Pertransívit gládius,

O quam tristis et afflícta

Fuit illa benedícta

Mater Unigéniti!

Quæ mærébat et dolébat,

Pia Mater, dum vidébat

Nati pœnas ínclyti.

Quis est homo, qui non fleret

Matrem Christi si vidéret

In tanto supplício?

Quis non posset contristári

Christi Matrem contemplári

Doléntem cum Fílio?

Pro peccátis suæ gentis

Vidit Iesum in torméntis,

Et flagéllis súbditum.

Vidit suum dulcem Natum

Moriéndo desolátum,

Dum emísit spíritum.

Eia Mater, fons amóris,

Me sentíre vim dolóris

Fac, ut tecum lúgeam.

Fac, ut árdeat cor meum

In amándo Christum Deum,

Ut sibi compláceam.

Sancta Mater, istud agas,

Crucifíxi fige plagas

Cordi meo válide.

Tui Nati vulneráti,

Tam dignáti pro me pati,

Pœnas mecum dívide.

Fac me tecum pie flere,

Crucifíxo condolére,

Donec ego víxero.

Iuxta Crucem tecum stare,

Et me tibi sociáre

In planctu desídero.

Virgo vírginum præclára,

Mihi iam non sis amára,

Fac me tecum plángere.

Fac, ut portem Christi mortem,

Passiónis fac consórtem,

Et plagas recólere.

Fac me plagas vulnerári,

Fac me Cruce inebriári,

Et cruóre Fílii.

Flammis ne urar succénsus,

Per te, Virgo, sim defénsus

In die iudícii.

Christe, cum sit hinc exíre,

Da per Matrem me veníre

Ad palmam victóriæ.

Quando corpus moriétur,

Fac, ut ánimæ donétur

Paradísi glória.

Amen.

Sub Tuum Praesidium

English

Latin

(Why Latin?)

We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not thou our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, sancta Dei Genitrix: nostras deprecationes ne despicias in necessitatibus nostris, sed a periculis cunctis libera nos semper, Virgo gloriosa et benedicta.

[Sub tuum præsídium confúgimus, sancta Dei Génitrix: nostras deprecatiónes ne despícias in necessitátibus nostris, sed a perículis cunctis líbera nos semper, Virgo gloriósa et benedícta.]
