Message To Rosary Week Participants
Dear Friends,
Greetings in Christ.
Please allow us to
express our most sincere appreciation for your participation in the
MyCatholicSource.com Third Annual Rosary Week. You helped make this
event a success. We are happy to report that Rosary Week signups were
received from the majority of states in the U.S. and from a total of
four continents. Considering God's goodness & mercy, we hope these
modest efforts may result abundant blessings.
As an expression of our
appreciation for your participation, you will be remembered in a
Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass to be said by the Priestly
Fraternity St. Peter. We have requested that this Mass be said for all
Rosary Week participants. Please note that the Priestly Fraternity was
erected as an institute of pontifical right by the Holy See in October
of 1988 (their twofold mission is "the formation and sanctification of
priests in the cadre of the traditional liturgy of the Roman rite, and
secondly, the pastoral deployment of the priests in the service of the
Church").

Friday, October 28, 2011, marks the
third anniversary of the
'official unveiling' of My Catholic Source.com. The site was in
development since 2001.
Thank you for your
support over the last three years. These past years have been both a
great joy and a significant challenge for us. During this time, we've
enjoyed more than one million visits - including a number of visits from
the Holy See, visits from a pontifical institute, an office of the Roman
curia & and the Vatican Library, as well as visits from a variety of
dioceses & archdioceses, Catholic universities, Catholic churches,
religious orders, Catholic hospitals, congregations, pontifical
colleges, ivy league colleges, libraries, agencies, organizations,
seminaries, bishops' conferences, and various government offices. We've
received visitors from all 50 states as well as from most all of the
countries in the world. We've built up traffic, added services &
features, changed servers twice, suffered major technical problems with
our equipment, almost had to shut down, got mentioned in newspapers,
developed apps, assisted Catholic school teachers, answered hundreds of
questions via chat, and secured our servers against frequent attacks.
We've been linked to from various blogs & sites and have been the
subject of forum & blog posts. The site has received over 24 million
hits, enjoyed well over 5 million page views, and has been advertised
millions & millions of times on Google and other search engines (or
their search partners). We've been rated favorably by KillerStartups.com
and have enjoyed various expressions of gratitude and praise from our
visitors (for which we are very grateful). We have also been the target
of insults and accusations - the Catholic content of our site actually
inspired someone to create an entire blog to complain about our 'sorry
excuse for a website'. We've spent countless hours creating and
expanding the site (the site was in development for seven years before
its 'official unveiling' in 2008) and have learned so much in the
process. We hope our labors have been helpful to our visitors and have
in some small way contributed to honoring Our Blessed Lord. We send our
sincere thanks to our benefactors & to all our visitors, for whom we
pray each day. Please know that it would be our honor to be able to
continue to operate MyCatholicSource.com in the years to come, God
willing. To that end, we'd be most appreciative for the support of your
prayers or for any other assistance you might be able to offer. Thanks

10/3/11 UPDATE:
We were notified today that the California law referenced below has
been repealed. We are happy to report that our account with
Amazon.com has now been reinstated and therefore we will once again
be eligible to receive financial incentives from Amazon.com. To shop

Amazon
Associates Program Terminated
We were abruptly notified by
Amazon.com that our Amazon Associates account was closed as a result
of a newly enacted California law concerning the charging of sales
tax. The abrupt & unfortunate cancellation of our account was
unexpected on our end and it was *not* caused by anything we did.
Rather, it was a result of a new state law. All California Amazon
Associates accounts were likewise cancelled.
This means that we will no longer
receive financial incentives on Amazon.com sales made as a result of
referrals from our site.
The first notice from Amazon and the
abrupt cancellation of our account occurred within less than 24
hours. Unfortunately, since our newsletter had already been
prepared, we were unable to reflect this change in our recent
newsletter.
We have spent many hours incorporating
Amazon links & images on our site and it will not be possible for us
to remove these items in the near future as we are absorbed in
another project and are enormously backlogged with other matters,
improvements, pending items, etc. We do hope public pressure on
lawmakers occurring during this potentially long delay may result in
conditions which will allow the reinstatement of our account by
Amazon so that we may continue to participate in this program in the
future.
In the meantime, however, please be
advised that we will *not* receive financial incentives from
Amazon.com, despite any wording to the contrary that may remain on
our site. Also, we will not be able to update any Amazon.com links
appearing on our site should they no longer work.
We regret this unfortunate situation
and apologize if it causes our visitors any inconvenience.

Notice: Site Beautification (2/11)

Site Beautification
We're once again working
on site beautification. We hope you'll find the various cosmetic changes
(e.g. changes to font sizes/styles, spacing changes, etc.) & other
changes helpful. During this process, we are also working on adding
links to Topic Pages throughout the site. While we've made a good deal
of progress already, we anticipate that will take months for us to fully
complete the present beautification efforts. If you have any comments or
suggestions regarding these changes, please let us know.
UPDATE: Site beautification efforts have been temporarily suspended so
that we may work on another very 'labor intensive' project. We hope we
may be able to resume these efforts sometime later next year. |

We send a big thank you to those
who responded to our emergency appeal either by prayers or financial
support. Your kindness has lifted our spirits and has meant a lot to us.
Although we are presently losing money with each passing month, the
good news is that we think we may be able to keep MyCatholicSource.com
online for the immediate future if we make some changes. While we regret
that it is necessary to make these changes, it appears to be the only
way for us to have a chance of remaining online. The following changes
are effective immediately unless otherwise stated. Please note that we
are unable to say at this time whether these changes will be temporary
or permanent.
* News & Opinion (shortcut:
www.MyCatholicSource.com/News) - News coverage on our site (and blog)
will be scaled down substantially. At this time, we plan to limit our
coverage to significant news items with lasting value. We expect that
future updates to our news page (and our blog) will be sporadic and
infrequent. However, we do still plan to offer links to other sites for
current news coverage as well as news tickers (as applicable). We also
plan to allow continued inclusion of user submitted articles and have
added links to various news-related resources
* Weekly news updates (sent
to subscribers) will be suspended indefinitely. [Note: Our regular
newsletter will continue]
* Our 'post of the month'
program will be suspended indefinitely
* We anticipate that 'live
chat' availability will be significantly reduced
* Posts may be processed
less frequently than in the past
* We will need to rely more
heavily on visitors' donations
to advertise MyCatholicSource.com in
search engines

help meet our operating costs
