Why the
Rosary?
|
Here are a few reasons...
* The Traditional Feast of Christ the
King falls in the month of October, which is traditionally
dedicated to the Rosary
* For centuries, numerous popes,
saints, and others have strongly encouraged all to pray the
Rosary. And, the Blessed Virgin herself has urged us to pray the
Rosary.
* Throughout its history, the Rosary
has been considered a powerful weapon against the forces of evil.
It has also been associated with countless miracles of all types.
The Rosary has been attributed to one of the greatest military
upsets in all of history as Christians carried rosaries into
battle along with their swords and achieved astonishing results.
* The saints have called the Rosary a
"ladder to heaven". At least one saint specifically attributes the
salvation of his soul to the Rosary.
* "Of all the prayers, the Rosary is
the most beautiful and the richest in graces; of all it is the one
most pleasing to Mary, the Virgin Most Holy." (Pope St. Pius X)
* "Never will anyone who says his
Rosary every day be led astray. This is a statement that I would
gladly sign with my blood." (St. Louis de Montfort)
* "Next to the holy sacrifice of the
Mass, there is, indeed, nothing more terrifying to [the devil],
nor does he bear a more implacable hatred to anything than to the
devotion of the Rosary." (Muller)
* "Always pray the rosary." [St. Pio
of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio)]
* The power of the rosary is beyond
description." (Archbishop Fulton Sheen)
* "We desire very earnestly,
Venerable Brethren, that the Holy Rosary should be recited in a
special manner in the month of October and with increased devotion
both in the churches and in homes." (Pope Pius XI,
"Ingravescentibus Malis", 1937 A.D.)
* "How great is the power and mercy
of the Blessed Virgin for those who are faithful in the practice
of the Rosary! If you wish then, to save your soul, practice the
devotion of the Rosary with fervor and perseverance. If you wish
to save the souls of those who are near and dear to you, try to
introduce this devotion without delay into your family." (Muller)

Can't pray an entire rosary? Can't pray an entire rosary for a
whole week?
Please join in with any prayers you can. We welcome all
participation, no matter how small.
The Rosary In Latin: As indicated above, we
will say the Rosary prayers in Latin on the Feast of Christ the King,
Sunday 10/28/12. We invite everyone to also pray in Latin on this
date if they are
able (click
here for assistance). [Why pray in Latin?]
Head Covering:
We ask ladies to please wear a head covering while praying and
gentlemen to pray without a head covering as St. Paul instructs
in 1 Cor. 11:3-15:
But I want you to know that
Christ is the head of every man, and a husband the head of his
wife, and God the head of Christ. Any man who prays or prophesies
with his head covered brings shame upon his head. But any woman
who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled brings shame upon
her head, for it is one and the same thing as if she had had her
head shaved. For if a woman does not have her head veiled, she may
as well have her hair cut off. But if it is shameful for a woman
to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should wear
a veil. A man, on the other hand, should not cover his head,
because he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory
of man. For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; nor
was man created for woman, but woman for man; for this reason a
woman should have a sign of authority on her head, because of the
angels. Woman is not independent of man or man of woman in the
Lord. For just as woman came from man, so man is born of woman;
but all things are from God. Judge for yourselves: is it proper
for a woman to pray to God with her head unveiled? Does not nature
itself teach you that if a man wears his hair long it is a
disgrace to him, whereas if a woman has long hair it is her glory,
because long hair has been given (her) for a covering?
Posture: We encourage those
who are able to kneel for an entire Rosary to do so. For all
others, please adopt a reverent posture for prayer.
Type of Rosary to Use: Please
feel free to use any appropriate Rosary.

Message
to Last Year's Rosary Week Participants |
Message To Rosary Week Participants (2011)
Dear Friends,
Greetings in Christ.
Please allow us to express our most sincere appreciation for your
participation in the MyCatholicSource.com Third Annual Rosary Week. You
helped make this event a success. We are happy to report that Rosary
Week signups were received from the majority of states in the U.S. and
from a total of four continents. Considering God's goodness & mercy, we
hope these modest efforts may result abundant blessings.
As
an expression of our appreciation for your participation, you will be
remembered in a Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass to be said by the
Priestly Fraternity St. Peter. We have requested that this Mass be said
for all Rosary Week participants. Please note that the Priestly
Fraternity was erected as an institute of pontifical right by the Holy
See in October of 1988 (their twofold mission is "the formation and
sanctification of priests in the cadre of the traditional liturgy of the
Roman rite, and secondly, the pastoral deployment of the priests in the
service of the Church").
Thanks again for joining us!
We
wish you God's blessings.
