In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame.
In your justice rescue and deliver me; listen to me and save me! Be my rock and refuge, my secure stronghold;
for you are my rock and fortress. My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the clutches of the violent.
You are my hope, Lord; my trust, GOD, from my youth. On you I depend since birth; from my mother's womb you are my strength; my hope in you never wavers.
I have become a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge! My mouth shall be filled with your praise, shall sing your glory every day.
Do not cast me aside in my old age; as my strength fails, do not forsake me.
For my enemies speak against me; they watch and plot against me. They say, "God has abandoned that one. Pursue, seize the wretch!
No one will come to the rescue!" God, do not stand far from me; my God, hasten to help me.
Bring to a shameful end those who attack me;
Cover with contempt and scorn those who seek my ruin. I will always hope in you and add to all your praise.
My mouth shall proclaim your just deeds, day after day your acts of deliverance, though I cannot number them all.
I will speak of the mighty works of the Lord; O GOD, I will tell of your singular justice.
God, you have taught me from my youth; to this day I proclaim your wondrous deeds.
Now that I am old and gray, do not forsake me, God,
That I may proclaim your might to all generations yet to come,
Your power and justice, God, to the highest heaven. You have done great things; O God, who is your equal?
You have sent me many bitter afflictions, but once more revive me. From the watery depths of the earth once more raise me up.
Restore my honor; turn and comfort me, That I may praise you with the lyre for your faithfulness, my God,
And sing to you with the harp, O Holy One of Israel! My lips will shout for joy as I sing your praise; my soul, too, which you have redeemed.
Yes, my tongue shall recount your justice day by day. For those who sought my ruin will have been shamed and disgraced.

O
Jesus, You suffered and died for us; You understand suffering; Teach me
to understand my suffering as You do; To bear it in union with You; To
offer it with You to atone for my sins and to bring Your grace to souls
in need. Calm my fears; increase my trust. May I gladly accept Your holy
will and become more like You in trial. If it be Your will, restore me
to health so that I may work for Your honor and glory and the salvation
of all men. Amen. Mary, help of the sick, pray for me.

O
glorious St. Joseph, behold I choose thee today for my special patron in
life and at the hour of my death. Preserve and increase in me the spirit
of prayer and fervor in the service of God. Remove far from me every
kind of sin; obtain for me that my death may not come upon me unawares,
but that I may have time to confess my sins sacramentally and to bewail
them with a most perfect understanding and a most sincere and perfect
contrition, in order that I may breathe forth my soul into the hands of
Jesus and Mary. Amen.

Almighty
and merciful God, who giveth to mankind both the remedies of salvation
and the gifts of life everlasting; look mercifully on Thy servant who is
afflicted with sickness of the body, and refresh the soul which Thou
hast created; so that at the hour of its going hence, it may be found
worthy to be borne, free from all stain of sin, by the hands of the holy
angels, to Thee, its Creator. Amen.

Thou
hast mercifully provided remedies, O Lord, for all our necessities:
Grant me Thy grace to so make use of them, that my soul may receive all
those good effects which Thou hast appointed in their institution. Now I
desire to be anointed as Thou hast commanded by thy apostle; grant, I
beseech Thee, that by this holy unction and the prayers of the Church, I
may partake of that spirit with which Christ suffered on the cross, for
thy glory, and for the destruction of sin. Give me true patience to
support all the pains and trouble of my distemper; give me an inward
strength to resist all the temptations of the enemy; give me grace for
the pardon of all my failings; give me that true light by which I may be
conducted through the shadow of death to eternal happiness; and if my
health be expedient for Thy glory, let this be the means to restore it.
Behold, I approach this holy ordinance with a firm faith and confidence
in thy goodness, that Thou wilt not forsake me in this time of my
distress, but that Thou wilt stand by me with thy grace, and defend me
from all evil, and now prepare my soul for a happy passage. Amen.

O
God, whose property is always to have mercy and to spare, we humbly
beseech Thee for the soul of thy servant (N.), which Thou hast this day
called out of the world, that Thou wouldst not deliver it up into the
hands of the enemy, nor forget it unto the end; but command it to be
received by thy holy angels, and to be carried to paradise, its true
country; that as in Thee it had faith and hope, it may not suffer the
pains of hell, but may take possession of everlasting joys: through our
Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the
unity of the Holy Ghost, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
