Anointing
by Woman to be Remembered |
Since Jesus knew this,
he said to them, "Why do you make trouble for the woman? She
has done a good thing for me. The poor you will always have with
you; but you will not always have me. In pouring this perfumed oil
upon my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. Amen, I say to
you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what
she has done will be spoken of, in memory of her." [MT

Anointing
by Woman to be Remembered |
When he was in Bethany
reclining at table in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came
with an alabaster jar of perfumed oil, costly genuine spikenard.
She broke the alabaster jar and poured it on his head. There were
some who were indignant. "Why has there been this waste of
perfumed oil? It could have been sold for more than three hundred
days' wages and the money given to the poor." They were
infuriated with her. Jesus said, "Let her alone. Why do you
make trouble for her? She has done a good thing for me. The poor
you will always have with you, and whenever you wish you can do
good to them, but you will not always have me. She has done what
she could. She has anticipated anointing my body for burial. Amen,
I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed to the whole
world, what she has done will be told in memory of her." [MK
14:3-9]

Baptism
|
I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from all your impurities, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts. I will put my spirit within you and make you live by my statutes, careful to observe my decrees. You shall live in the land I gave your fathers; you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Blinded Eyes and
Hardened Hearts |
Although he had
performed so many signs in their presence they did not believe in
him, in order that the word which Isaiah the prophet
spoke might be fulfilled: "Lord, who has believed
our preaching, to whom has the might of the Lord been
revealed?" For this reason they could not believe, because
again Isaiah said: "He blinded their eyes and hardened
their heart, so that they might not see with their
eyes and understand with their heart and be
converted, and I would heal them." [JN 12:37-40]

Calming of the Sea |
In their distress they
cried to the LORD, who brought them out of their peril,
Hushed the storm to a murmur; the waves of the sea were

Coming
Redemption / Fall And Rise of Many in Israel / Piercing of
Mary |
Now there was a man in
Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and
devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit
was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that
he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the
Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents
brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in
regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying:
"Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace,
according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for
revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people
Israel." and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother,
"Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many
in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted and you
yourself a sword will pierce so that the thoughts of many hearts
may be revealed." There was also a prophetess, Anna, the
daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in
years, having lived seven years with her husband after her
marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never
left the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and
prayer. And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to
God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the
redemption of Jerusalem. [LK 2:25-38]

Destruction of the
Temple |
As he was making his
way out of the temple area one of his disciples said to him,
"Look, teacher, what stones and what buildings!" Jesus
said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? There will
not be one stone left upon another that will not be thrown
down." [MK 13:1-2]

Destruction of the
Temple |
While some people were
speaking about how the temple was adorned with costly stones and
votive offerings, he said, "All that you see here - the days
will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone
that will not be thrown down." [LK 21:5-6]

Entrustment of the Keys |
I will place the key of the House of David on his shoulder; when
he opens, no one shall shut, when he shuts, no one shall open. I
will fix him like a peg in a sure spot, to be a place of honor for
his family; On him shall hang all the glory of his family:
descendants and offspring, all the little dishes, from bowls to
jugs. [ISA 22:22-24]

Finding
of Animals for Entry Into Jerusalem / King to Come on a Donkey |
When they drew near
Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent
two disciples, saying to them, "Go into the village opposite
you, and immediately you will find an ass tethered, and a colt
with her. Untie them and bring them here to me. And if anyone
should say anything to you, reply, 'The master has need of them.'
Then he will send them at once." This happened so that what
had been spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled: "Say
to daughter Zion, 'Behold, your king comes to you, meek
and riding on an ass, and on a colt, the foal of a beast of
burden.'" [MT 21:1-5]

Finding
of Animals for Entry Into Jerusalem |
As he drew near to
Bethphage and Bethany at the place called the Mount of Olives, he
sent two of his disciples. He said, "Go into the village
opposite you, and as you enter it you will find a colt tethered on
which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it here. And if
anyone should ask you, 'Why are you untying it?' you will answer,
'The Master has need of it.'" So those who had been sent went
off and found everything just as he had told them. [LK

Finding
of Colt for Entry Into Jerusalem |
When they drew near to
Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, he
sent two of his disciples and said to them, "Go into the
village opposite you, and immediately on entering it, you will
find a colt tethered on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and
bring it here. If anyone should say to you, 'Why are you doing
this?' reply, 'The Master has need of it and will send it back
here at once.'" So they went off and found a colt tethered at
a gate outside on the street, and they untied it. Some of the
bystanders said to them, "What are you doing, untying the
colt?" They answered them just as Jesus had told them to, and
they permitted them to do it. [MK 11:1-6]

Hated Without Cause |
If I had not done works
among them that no one else ever did, they would not have sin; but
as it is, they have seen and hated both me and my Father. But in
order that the word written in their law might be fulfilled,
'They hated me without cause.' [JN 15:24-25]

Hope for the Gentiles |
When Jesus realized
this, he withdrew from that place. Many (people) followed him, and
he cured them all, but he warned them not to
make him known. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through
Isaiah the prophet: "Behold, my servant whom I have
chosen, my beloved in whom I delight; I shall place my
spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the
Gentiles. He will not contend or cry out, nor will anyone
hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not
break, a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings
justice to victory. And in his name the Gentiles will
hope." [MT 12:15-21]

Entry Into Jerusalem |
Rejoice heartily, O
daughter Zion, shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem! See,
your king shall come to you; a just savior is he, Meek,
and riding on an ass, on a colt, the foal of an ass. He shall
banish the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from
Jerusalem; The warrior's bow shall be banished, and he
shall proclaim peace to the nations. His dominion shall be

will bloom with abundant flowers, and rejoice with joyful
song...They will see the glory of the LORD, the splendor of our
God. Strengthen the hands that are feeble, make firm the knees

strong, fear not! Here is your God, he comes with vindication;
With divine recompense he comes to save you. Then will the eyes of
the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared [Taken from

Location of Passover |
He sent two of his
disciples and said to them, "Go into the city and a man will
meet you, carrying a jar of water. Follow him. Wherever he enters,
say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is
my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my
disciples?"' Then he will show you a large upper room
furnished and ready. Make the preparations for us there." The
disciples then went off, entered the city, and found it just as he

Ship to be Lost |
"Men, I can see
that this voyage will result in severe damage and heavy
loss..." When many would no longer eat, Paul stood among them
and said, "Men, you should have taken my advice and not have
set sail from Crete and you would have avoided this disastrous
loss. I urge you now to keep up your courage; not one of you will
be lost, only the ship. For last night an angel of the God to whom
I belong and whom I serve stood by me and said, 'Do not be afraid,
Paul. You are destined to stand before Caesar; and behold, for
your sake, God has granted safety to all who are sailing with
you.' Therefore, keep up your courage, men; I trust in God that it
will turn out as I have been told. We are destined to run aground
on some island." The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners
so that none might swim away and escape, but the centurion wanted
to save Paul and so kept them from carrying out their plan. He
ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to
the shore, and then the rest, some on planks, others on debris
from the ship. In this way, all reached shore safely. [ACTS 27:10,
21-26, 42-44]

When Herod realized
that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He

through Jeremiah the prophet: "A voice was heard in Ramah,

When they had departed,
behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and

child to destroy him." Joseph rose and took the child and his
mother by night and departed for Egypt. He stayed there until the
death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet

11:11)." [MT

BIG Book of Latin Activities For Catholics
Beginning - Intermediate (Vol. 1)

"Suitable For Children Or
Adults!" ~ "Perfect For Home Schoolers!"
+ + +
As many faithful Catholics already know,
the majestic
Latin language – the 'official language' of the Catholic Church –
promotes unity, helps safeguard the purity of doctrine, connects us with
our Catholic ancestors, allows us to pray in "one voice", and even ties
back to the inscription on the Cross which was written in Hebrew, Latin,
and Greek. The Latin language is still used today in the precious
treasure that is the
Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass, in 'everyday speech' (much of
English is derived from Latin), in mottos, in specialized fields, and in
educational endeavors. It has been shown that the study of Latin brings
many benefits. "And, Latin is truly the language of heaven!"
If you enjoy Latin, you may be glad to know that
this full-sized (8.5" x 11"), tradition-minded publication features an
assortment of activity types related to Latin (including: word searches,
crosswords, coloring activities, challenges, fill-ins, spelling bee,
quizzes, unscrambles, true/false, multiple choice, matching, cross-offs,
circling, word associations, translation exercises, and more...), and
treats of various topics (including: common Latin words, Latin language
facts, Latin grammar, nouns & verbs, abbreviations,
phrases / sayings / mottos, prefixes, cardinal numbers, grammatical gender,
inflection, word roots, diacritics / accenting, pronunciation, Latin
prayers / hymns, Scripture verses, Catholic phrases, and more...).
