              Times /
Jesus' Coming | There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars,
and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring
of the sea and the waves. People will die of fright in
anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of
the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man
coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these signs
begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your
redemption is at hand. [LK 21:25-28]

            | Entering
the Kingdom of God | Jesus answered and said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you,
no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from
above." Jesus answered, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no
one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and
Spirit. What is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of spirit
              is spirit. [JN 3:3-6]

            | The
Rich / Entering the Kingdom of God | Jesus looked at him (now sad) and said, "How hard it is
for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! For it is
easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a
rich person to enter the kingdom of God." Those who heard
this said, "Then who can be saved?" And he said,
"What is impossible for human beings is possible for
              God." [LK 18:24-27]

you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself
like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. [Taken

your whole body will be filled with light; but if your eye is bad,
your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is

Light (LK) | No one who lights a lamp hides it away or places it
(under a bushel basket), but on a lampstand so that those who
enter might see the light. The lamp of the body is your eye. When
your eye is sound, then your whole body is filled with light, but
when it is bad, then your body is in darkness. Take care, then,
that the light in you not become darkness. If your whole body is
full of light, and no part of it is in darkness, then it will be
as full of light as a lamp illuminating you with its
              brightness. [LK 11:33-36]

Prophets (MT 7) | Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's
clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you
will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs
from thistles? Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a
rotten tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit,
nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not
bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by
their fruits you will know them. [MT 7:15-20]

              Prophets /
End Times / Persecution / Perseverance | Jesus said to them in reply, "See that no one deceives
you. For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Messiah,'
and they will deceive many. You will hear of wars and reports of
wars; see that you are not alarmed, for these things must happen,
but it will not yet be the end. Nation will rise against nation,
and kingdom against kingdom; there will be famines and earthquakes
from place to place. All these are the beginning of the labor
pains. Then they will hand you over to persecution, and they will
kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of my name. And
then many will be led into sin; they will betray and hate one
another. Many false prophets will arise and deceive many; and
because of the increase of evildoing, the love of many will grow
cold. But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved. And
this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the world
as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come. [MT

Behold, I have told it to you beforehand. So if they say to you,

            | Time
of Tribulation / False Prophets /
Return of Jesus / Being Watchful | When you see the desolating abomination standing where he
should not... then those in Judea must flee to the mountains,
(and) a person on a housetop must not go down or enter to get
anything out of his house, and a person in a field must not return
to get his cloak. Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in
those days. Pray that this does not happen in winter. For those
times will have tribulation such as has not been since the
beginning of God's creation until now, nor ever will be. If the
Lord had not shortened those days, no one would be saved; but for
the sake of the elect whom he chose, he did shorten the days. If
anyone says to you then, 'Look, here is the Messiah! Look, there
he is!' do not believe it. False messiahs and false prophets will
arise and will perform signs and wonders in order to mislead, if
that were possible, the elect. Be watchful! I have told it all to
you beforehand. But in those days after that
tribulation the sun will be darkened, and the moon will
not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the
sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then
they will see 'the Son of Man coming in the clouds' with great
power and glory, and then he will send out the angels and gather
(his) elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the
end of the sky. Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its
branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is
near. In the same way, when you see these things happening, know
that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation
will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven
and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in
heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert!
You do not know when the time will come. It is like a man
traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in
charge, each with his work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the
watch. Watch, therefore; you do not know when the lord of the
house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at
cockcrow, or in the morning. May he not come suddenly and find you
sleeping. What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!' [MK

Who Disobey Jesus | The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is of
the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things. But the one who
comes from heaven (is above all). He testifies to what he has seen
and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. Whoever does accept
his testimony certifies that God is trustworthy. For the one whom
God sent speaks the words of God. He does not ration his gift of
the Spirit. The Father loves the Son and has given everything over
to him. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever
disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains

is the time of judgment on this world; now the ruler of this world
will be driven out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will
draw everyone to myself." He said this indicating the kind of
death he would die. (Then) Jesus said to them, "The light will be
among you only a little while. Walk while you have the light, so
that darkness may not overcome you. Whoever walks in the dark does
not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in
the light, so that you may become children of the light."
After he had said this, Jesus left and hid from them... Jesus cried
out and said, "Whoever believes in me believes not only in me
but also in the one who sent me, and whoever sees me sees the one
who sent me. I came into the world as light, so that everyone who
believes in me might not remain in darkness. And if anyone hears
my words and does not observe them, I do not condemn him, for I
did not come to condemn the world but to save the world. Whoever
rejects me and does not accept my words has something to judge
him: the word that I spoke, it will condemn him on the last day,
because I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me
commanded me what to say and speak. And I know that his
commandment is eternal life. So what I say, I say as the Father
              told me." [JN 12:24-26, 31-36, 44-50]

God; have faith also in me. In my Father's house there are many
dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I
am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a
place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so
that where I am you also may be. Where (I) am going you know the
way." Thomas said to him, "Master, we do not know
where you are going; how can we know the way?" Jesus said to
him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through me. If you know me, then you will
also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen
him." Philip said to him, "Master, show us the Father,
and that will be enough for us." Jesus said to him,
"Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not
know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can
you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the
Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do
not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his
works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves. Amen, amen, I
say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the
Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the
Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in
my name, I will do it. If you love me, you will keep my
commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you
another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which
the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But
you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you. I
will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while
the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I
live and you will live. On that day you will realize that I am in
my Father and you are in me and I in you. Whoever has my
commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And
whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him
and reveal myself to him." Judas, not the Iscariot, said to
him, "Master, (then) what happened that you will reveal
yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said
to him, "Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father
will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with
him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word

            | Jesus
is the Bread of Life / Jesus' Mission / Foretelling
of the Eucharist | (Jesus said), "Do not work for food
that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you. For on him the Father, God,
has set his seal." So they said to him, "What can we do
to accomplish the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to
them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in the one
he sent." So they said to him, "What sign can you do,
that we may see and believe in you? What can you do? Our ancestors
ate manna in the desert, as it is written: 'He gave them
bread from heaven to eat.'" So Jesus said to them,
"Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the
bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and
gives life to the world." So they said to him, "Sir,
give us this bread always." Jesus said to them, "I am
the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and
whoever believes in me will never thirst. But I told you that
although you have seen (me), you do not believe. Everything that
the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone
who comes to me, because I came down from heaven not to do my own
will but the will of the one who sent me. And this is the will of
the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he
gave me, but that I should raise it (on) the last day. For this is
the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes
in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him (on) the last
day...No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw
him, and I will raise him on the last day. It is written in the
prophets: 'They shall all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens
to my Father and learns from him comes to me. Not that anyone has
seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the
Father. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal
life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the
desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from
heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread
that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live
forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life
of the world." The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,
"How can this man give us (his) flesh to eat?" Jesus
said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the
flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life
within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal
life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true
food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks
my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father
sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who
feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that
came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still
died, whoever eats this bread will live forever." Then many
of his disciples who were listening said, "This saying is
hard; who can accept it?" Since Jesus knew that his disciples
were murmuring about this, he said to them, "Does this shock
you? It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no
avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But
there are some of you who do not believe." Jesus knew from
the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would
betray him. And he said, "For this reason I have told you
that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my
Father." As a result of this, many (of) his disciples
returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied
him. Jesus then said to the Twelve, "Do you also want to
leave?" Simon Peter answered him, "Master, to whom shall
we go? You have the words of eternal life. [Taken from JN 6:27-40,

No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained,
every disciple will be like his teacher. Why do you notice the
splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden
beam in your own? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let
me remove that splinter in your eye,' when you do not even notice
the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden
beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the
splinter in your brother's eye." [LK 6:37-42]

            | Sin / Forgiveness | Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to

a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea

forgive him. And if he wrongs you seven times in one day and

of Sins | Jesus said to him in reply, "Simon, I have something to
say to you." "Tell me, teacher," he said. "Two
people were in debt to a certain creditor; one owed five hundred
days' wages and the other owed fifty. Since they were unable to
repay the debt, he forgave it for both. Which of them will love
him more?" Simon said in reply, "The one, I suppose,
whose larger debt was forgiven." He said to him, "You
have judged rightly." Then he turned to the woman and said to
Simon, "Do you see this woman? When I entered your house, you
did not give me water for my feet, but she has bathed them with
her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a
kiss, but she has not ceased kissing my feet since the time I
entered. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she anointed my
feet with ointment. So I tell you, her many sins have been
forgiven; hence, she has shown great love. But the one to whom
little is forgiven, loves little." He said to her, "Your
sins are forgiven." The others at table said to themselves,

must I do to gain eternal life?" He answered him, "...If
you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments." He asked
him, "Which ones?" And Jesus replied, " 'You shall

              shall not bear false witness; honor your father and your mother';
and 'you shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" The young
man said to him, "All of these I have observed. What do I
still lack?" Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be
perfect, go, sell what you have and give to (the) poor, and you
will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When the
young man heard this statement, he went away sad, for he had many

greatly astonished and said, "Who then can be saved?"

Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name,

up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor

Hidden Will Become Visible | No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or
sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that
those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden
that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be
known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone
who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even

BIG Book of Latin Activities For Catholics
Beginning - Intermediate (Vol. 1)

"Suitable For Children Or
Adults!" ~ "Perfect For Home Schoolers!"
+ + +
As many faithful Catholics already know,
the majestic
Latin language – the 'official language' of the Catholic Church –
promotes unity, helps safeguard the purity of doctrine, connects us with
our Catholic ancestors, allows us to pray in "one voice", and even ties
back to the inscription on the Cross which was written in Hebrew, Latin,
and Greek. The Latin language is still used today in the precious
treasure that is the
Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass, in 'everyday speech' (much of
English is derived from Latin), in mottos, in specialized fields, and in
educational endeavors. It has been shown that the study of Latin brings
many benefits. "And, Latin is truly the language of heaven!"
If you enjoy Latin, you may be glad to know that
this full-sized (8.5" x 11"), tradition-minded publication features an
assortment of activity types related to Latin (including: word searches,
crosswords, coloring activities, challenges, fill-ins, spelling bee,
quizzes, unscrambles, true/false, multiple choice, matching, cross-offs,
circling, word associations, translation exercises, and more...), and
treats of various topics (including: common Latin words, Latin language
facts, Latin grammar, nouns & verbs, abbreviations,
phrases / sayings / mottos, prefixes, cardinal numbers, grammatical gender,
inflection, word roots, diacritics / accenting, pronunciation, Latin
prayers / hymns, Scripture verses, Catholic phrases, and more...).
