Mass

"We therefore confess that the Sacrifice of the Mass is and ought to be considered one and the same Sacrifice as that of the cross, for the victim is one and the same, namely, Christ our Lord, who offered Himself, once only, a bloody Sacrifice on the altar of the cross. The bloody and unbloody victim are not two, but one victim only, whose Sacrifice is daily renewed in the Eucharist, in obedience to the command of our Lord: Do this for a commemoration of me. The priest is also one and the same, Christ the Lord; for the ministers who offer Sacrifice, consecrate the holy mysteries, not in their own person, but in that of Christ, as the words of consecration itself show, for the priest does not say: This is the body of Christ, but, This is my body; and thus, acting in the Person of Christ the Lord, he changes the substance of the bread and wine into the true substance of His body and blood." (Catechism of the Council of Trent) The Mass is an action of the priest, acting 'In Persona Christi' ("In the Person of Christ"), which occurs regardless of whether any laity are present. Note: For general information on the Mass / The Holy Eucharist, click here. For information on the incomparable, highly reverent, Traditional Latin Mass, click here

Morning Offering

Refers to a prayer generally said each morning in which all the day's prayers, works, etc. are offered for certain persons, causes, petitions, etc. Note: For Morning Offering prayers, try here (Prayers & Devotions Section)

Mortal Sin

"Mortal sin is a grievous offense against the law of God." (Baltimore Catechism) Should one die with an unrepented mortal sin on his or her conscience, he or she will be condemned to hell. After committing a mortal sin, one should immediately make a perfect act of contrition and, as soon as possible, make a good sacramental Confession. A person who has committed a mortal sin must make a good sacramental Confession and receive absolution before partaking of the Holy Eucharist. It should be noted that there is no sin - no matter how horrible - that the Church cannot forgive (that is, the Church - by the authority and power of Christ - can forgive all sin, without exception, for those who are properly disposed). For additional information on the conditions necessary to make a sin mortal, click here. For additional information on the Sacrament of Confession, click here. BIG Book of Latin Activities For Catholics

Beginning - Intermediate (Vol. 1)

"Suitable For Children Or Adults!" ~ "Perfect For Home Schoolers!"

+ + +

As many faithful Catholics already know, the majestic Latin language – the 'official language' of the Catholic Church – promotes unity, helps safeguard the purity of doctrine, connects us with our Catholic ancestors, allows us to pray in "one voice", and even ties back to the inscription on the Cross which was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek. The Latin language is still used today in the precious treasure that is the Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass, in 'everyday speech' (much of English is derived from Latin), in mottos, in specialized fields, and in educational endeavors. It has been shown that the study of Latin brings many benefits. "And, Latin is truly the language of heaven!"

If you enjoy Latin, you may be glad to know that this full-sized (8.5" x 11"), tradition-minded publication features an assortment of activity types related to Latin (including: word searches, crosswords, coloring activities, challenges, fill-ins, spelling bee, quizzes, unscrambles, true/false, multiple choice, matching, cross-offs, circling, word associations, translation exercises, and more...), and treats of various topics (including: common Latin words, Latin language facts, Latin grammar, nouns & verbs, abbreviations, phrases / sayings / mottos, prefixes, cardinal numbers, grammatical gender, inflection, word roots, diacritics / accenting, pronunciation, Latin prayers / hymns, Scripture verses, Catholic phrases, and more...).
