There are only two sides we can be on

In all this talk about freedom, people seem to forget that there are only two sides we can be on - God's & the devil's. If we are not on God's side, we are on the devil's. |We may think we are 'free' when we serve the devil - read: do what ever we want, but it is an illusion. The devil is a cruel taskmaster. This is clearly evident by the unhappiness of those who serve him.|God, on the other hand, is loving and kind. Serving Him makes us happy. Modern attempts to idolize freedom - meaning doing whatever we want - are demonic and will make us miserable in the long run.

divorce is harmful plague on society

Divorce is destroying souls and society, and hurting children. Why don't priests talk more about this terrible sin?

Abortionists are serial killers

We should stop calling abortionists "physicians" - actually, they are paid serial killers

article on annulments

The author states that a valid sacramental marriage cannot be ended except by death. My comment is that a valid marriage, whether sacramental or not, cannot be ended except by death. A marriage between a baptized person and one who is not can be valid|but it is not sacramental.[MCS:The sacrament does create an indissoluble bond and "Among Christians there can be no true marriage that is not a sacrament"("Spouses who would live together united by only a civil marriage would be in an habitual state|of mortal sin & their union would always be illegitimate in the sight of God and of the Church")(Ref. Catech./St. Pius X) Re:infidels, note the"Pauline prvlge."(1Cor.7:15)--such unions are *not* inherently indissoluble(contrary to scrmntl.marriages)]

Catholic Marriage

Marriage should be entered into more carefully

An observation: Marriage should be entered into much more carefully and with a great deal more thought being given to its real purpose. Many of the world's troubles could be avoided if people were more careful about entering into marriage. |Children should be instructed about the ends of marriage from a young age. And, of course, parents should set a good example for their children. |Maybe we can't change the world, but our own little efforts can still have a very big impact.

Catholic Family

be different

Catholic families should be different from the rest, in a good way. We should set a positive example in dress, speech, mannerism and in our activities. We should not blend in with the poisonous culture that surrounds us.

Catholic Parenting

parenting: a full time job

Supplying life's necessities is but one part of a parent's job. Parenting requires a great deal more like religious education and discipline. Parents who hope part-time parenting will cut it in the long run are mistaken.|Parenting is appropriately a full time job. Mothers and fathers who allow their children to be raised by the government - public schools - are making a huge mistake. Public schools indoctrinate children to nonreligiousness. |A good number of Catholic schools have also been harmful. Trading proper parenting of children for a career is a bad deal that hurts children. Rather than amassing possessions shift your focus to God's blessing to married persons, your offspring

new council

i hope the new council will help spread the faith. i don't think it is a good sign, however, that the CCC is being promoted as one if its objectives though. the CCC has much good, but it also contains many novelties

Sacredness of Life

Pope John Paul 2nd personified this profound holy obligation...

Before his passing, I did not realize the sacredness of life. Now, I cannot neglect this blessed precept that Pope John Paul 2nd personified. I thank God regularly for this revelation which I should have lived for during my entire life thusfar.
