Toxic Mercy

"Mercy" That Can Kill The Soul

By "Victim of Mercy"

Summary: Toxic Mercy: A "mercy" that can kill the soul.

Keywords: Toxic Mercy | Unmerciful Mercy | Mercy That Kills Souls | Soul Killing Mercy | Mercy That's Not Merciful | Second Vatican Council | Vatican II | Medicine of Mercy | Virus of Mercy | False Pastoral Mercy | Pastoral Approach | Pastoral | Pastorally | Catholic Snowflakes | Snowflake Catholics | Scandal | Amoris Laetitia | Sin | License to Sin | Mortal Sin | Sinners | Evil | Hell | Damnation | Eternal Hellfire | Gehenna | Satan | Devil | Truth | True Mercy

For starters, who can argue against the fact that the Church and souls have suffered exceedingly ever since Vatican II inflicted on us its inappropriately named "medicine of mercy"? To anyone who attempts such an argument, I suggest you look honestly at the alarming statistics. As they say, facts are facts.

Most Catholics experience contemporary Church "mercy" at their parish. It is often called a "pastoral" approach to sin. Let's be honest though, far and wide the modern definition of "pastoral" appears to be "throw doctrine out the window to make people feel better." Case and point for the global Church: Amoris Laetitia.

Wake up snowflake Catholics, you may feel better now, but you certainly won't feel better in hell!

Indulging sinners does not assist Catholics in the great work of saving their souls! Rather it temporarily insulates them from unavoidable (if sin is not repented of) future consequences and causes scandal.

Authentic Church teachings instruct us that God has eternal hellfire prepared for poor sinners who die unrepentant in mortal sin. Our Lord time and again warned us of this fact. Pick up your bible if you need proof!

Should you require still more evidence of God's hatred of sin, fix your eyes on the crucifix. You will see represented upon that wood the Almighty's dearly beloved, sinless Son atoning for the sins of the world in agonizing torment. Not very pastoral by today's standards, eh? But it was necessary so that we may be saved. (Thank you, dear Jesus!)

We have to do our part though to save our own souls: we cannot live unrepentant in mortal sin and expect to be saved, even despite Jesus' atoning sacrifice. Satan wants you to believe his evil "mercy" drivel that someone can be saved while continuing unrepentant in mortal sin. But you must know better, dear Catholic, regardless of what anyone tries to tell you: and no matter what that misguided person's status may be. Don't fall for the devil's lies! Remember St. Paul's counsel, "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed!" (Galatians, 1:8) Don't fall for the lies!

Agreed, it may be tough for church leaders - as it is for parents - to guide & punish their misbehaving charges, but it is necessary to do and ultimately redounds to their good. Those who fail to do so prove themselves derelict in their duties. And there will be consequences, even dire consequences.

Of course Catholics rightly want to be treated "pastorally" (e.g. with sensitivity and kindness), but not against truth. As Cardinal Burke once said, "There cannot be anything that's truly pastorally sound which is not doctrinally sound."

Leaders who treat us pastorally must guide us towards true holiness, not allow us to remain unconcerned about our sins. Did Christ employ modern churchmen's version of "pastoral" to those who persisted in sin?

Let me borrow a few quotes from T.B.B.'s article:

"You brood of vipers!" (Jesus Christ, Mt. 3:7, Lk. 3:7)

"You hypocrites!" (Jesus Christ, Lk. 12:56, and also: Mt. 22:18, Mt. 23:13, Mt. 23:15, Mt. 23:23, Mt. 23:25, Mt. 23:27, Mt. 23:29, Mk. 7:6)

"You serpents, you brood of vipers, how can you flee from the judgment of Gehenna?" (Jesus Christ, Mt. 23:33)

And you can't get more Christian than Christ!

To ignore or make light of sin out of "mercy" when it is your duty to correct it is "a mercy that kills", an "unmerciful, toxic mercy." Think about it: Such "mercy" has great power to inflict disaster on those you love.

And, yes it can be taken as a "license to sin", which would obviously be a great offense towards God.

Being thus "merciful" assuredly does not stop sin and does not lead to holiness. It is neither merciful to the sinner, nor to God who is offended by sin and who died in excruciating pain on the cross because of sin.

How many sins in your own life may be traced back to false mercy? How many sins might you have avoided if a loving, yet firmer "pastoral" approach was taken?

Examining my own life, I pronounce myself a repeat victim of the post-VII Church's misnamed "medicine of mercy". How many times would my soul have been better served with a Christ-like warning about eternal hellfire as a consequence of sin instead of weak-kneed coddling? I can only imagine. Multiply this by millions of Catholics (and others) to assess the true harm this deadly "virus of mercy" inflicts on the world.

Pray God, let the Church forthwith return to disseminating unfiltered Catholic truth as was given to our parents and grandparents, who could probably recite verbatim from the Baltimore Catechism: "The forgetfulness of God's justice will lead us into the sins of presumption", and "We should be sorry for our sins, because sin is the greatest of evils and an offence against God our Creator, Preserver, and Redeemer, and because mortal sin shuts us out of heaven and condemns us to the eternal pains of hell."

Like it or not, the Lord has warned us that eternal hellfire is awaiting those who persist unrepentant in mortal sin. It may not seem "pastoral" to tell confused Catholics this in the twenty-first century, but it is nevertheless true. Be mercifully forewarned of this fact so that you can live in a way to avoid this seminal danger. This is the true mercy. A false pastoral "mercy" may make you feel better for a time now, but you certainly won't feel better for all eternity in hell. Wake up while there is still time.

BIG Book of Latin Activities For Catholics

"Suitable For Children Or Adults!" ~ "Perfect For Home Schoolers!"

+ + +

As many faithful Catholics already know, the majestic Latin language – the 'official language' of the Catholic Church – promotes unity, helps safeguard the purity of doctrine, connects us with our Catholic ancestors, allows us to pray in "one voice", and even ties back to the inscription on the Cross which was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek. The Latin language is still used today in the precious treasure that is the Traditional Latin ('Tridentine') Mass, in 'everyday speech' (much of English is derived from Latin), in mottos, in specialized fields, and in educational endeavors. It has been shown that the study of Latin brings many benefits. "And, Latin is truly the language of heaven!"

If you enjoy Latin, you may be glad to know that this full-sized (8.5" x 11"), tradition-minded publication features an assortment of activity types related to Latin (including: word searches, crosswords, coloring activities, challenges, fill-ins, spelling bee, quizzes, unscrambles, true/false, multiple choice, matching, cross-offs, circling, word associations, translation exercises, and more...), and treats of various topics (including: common Latin words, Latin language facts, Latin grammar, nouns & verbs, abbreviations, phrases / sayings / mottos, prefixes, cardinal numbers, grammatical gender, inflection, word roots, diacritics / accenting, pronunciation, Latin prayers / hymns, Scripture verses, Catholic phrases, and more...).
