When Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw how beautiful the woman was; and when Pharaoh's courtiers saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh. So she was taken into Pharaoh's palace. [GEN 12:14-15]

Once more she conceived and bore a son, and she said, "This time I will give grateful praise to the LORD"; therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing children. [GEN 29:35]

"You, Judah, shall your brothers praise - your hand on the neck of your enemies; the sons of your father shall bow down to you." [GEN 49:8]

My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior. He is my God, I praise him; the God of my father, I extol him. [EX 15:2]

"And today the LORD is making this agreement with you: you are to be a people peculiarly his own, as he promised you; and provided you keep all his commandments, he will then raise you high in praise and renown and glory above all other nations he has made, and you will be a people sacred to the LORD, your God, as he promised." [DEUT 26:18-19]

In all Israel there was not a man who could so be praised for his beauty as Absalom, who was without blemish from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. [2SAM 14:25]

'Praised be the LORD,' I exclaim, and I am safe from my enemies. [2SAM 22:4]

"Therefore will I proclaim you, O LORD, among the nations, and I will sing praise to your name, You who gave great victories to your king and showed kindness to your anointed, to David and his posterity forever." [2SAM 22:50-51]

"If your people Israel sin against you and are defeated by an enemy, and if then they return to you, praise your name, pray to you, and entreat you in this temple, listen in heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them back to the land you gave their fathers. If the sky is closed, so that there is no rain, because they have sinned against you and you afflict them, and if then they repent of their sin, and pray, and praise your name in this place, listen in heaven and forgive the sin of your servant and of your people Israel, teaching them the right way to live and sending rain upon this land of yours which you have given to your people as their heritage." [1KGS 8:33-36]

He now appointed certain Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate, thank, and praise the LORD, the God of Israel. [1CHRON 16:4]

Then, on that same day, David appointed Asaph and his brethren to sing for the first time these praises of the LORD: Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the nations his deeds. Sing to him, sing his praise, proclaim all his wondrous deeds. [Taken from 1CHRON 16:7-9]

For great is the LORD and highly to be praised; and awesome is he, beyond all gods. For all the gods of the nations are things of nought, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty go before him; praise and joy are in his holy place. Give to the LORD, you families of nations, give to the LORD glory and praise; Give to the LORD the glory due his name! Bring gifts, and enter his presence; worship the LORD in holy attire. Tremble before him, all the earth; he has made the world firm, not to be moved. [1CHRON 16:25-30]

And say, "Save us, O God, our savior, gather us and deliver us from the nations, That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you." [1CHRON 16:35]

Of these, twenty-four thousand were to direct the service of the house of the LORD, six thousand were to be officials and judges, four thousand were to be gatekeepers, and four thousand were to praise the LORD with the instruments which David had devised for praise. [1CHRON 23:4-5]

They must be present every morning to offer thanks and to praise the LORD, and likewise in the evening [Taken from 1CHRON 23:30]

Then David blessed the LORD in the presence of the whole assembly, praying in these words: "Blessed may you be, O LORD, God of Israel our father, from eternity to eternity. Yours, O LORD, are grandeur and power, majesty, splendor, and glory. For all in heaven and on earth is yours; yours, O LORD, is the sovereignty; you are exalted as head over all. Riches and honor are from you, and you have dominion over all. In your hand are power and might; it is yours to give grandeur and strength to all. Therefore, our God, we give you thanks and we praise the majesty of your name." [1CHRON 29:10-13]

When the trumpeters and singers were heard as a single voice praising and giving thanks to the LORD, and when they raised the sound of the trumpets, cymbals and other musical instruments to "give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his mercy endures forever," the building of the LORD'S temple was filled with a cloud. The priests could not continue to minister because of the cloud, since the LORD'S glory filled the house of God. [2CHRON 5:13-14]

When the sky is closed so that there is no rain, because they have sinned against you, but then they pray toward this place and praise your name, and they withdraw from sin because you afflict them, listen in heaven and forgive the sin of your servants and of your people Israel. But teach them the right way to live, and send rain upon your land which you gave your people as their heritage. [2CHRON 6:26-27]

All the Israelites looked on while the fire came down and the glory of the LORD was upon the house, and they fell down upon the pavement with their faces to the earth and adored, praising the LORD, "for he is good, for his mercy endures forever." [2CHRON 7:3]

Thus the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. The priests were standing at their stations, as were the Levites, with the musical instruments of the LORD which King David had made for "praising the LORD, for his mercy endures forever," when David used them to accompany the hymns. Across from them the priests blew the trumpets and all Israel stood. [2CHRON 7:6]

And according to the ordinance of his father David he appointed the various classes of the priests for their service, and the Levites according to their functions of praise and ministry alongside the priests, as the daily duty required. The gatekeepers of the various classes stood guard at each gate, since such was the command of David, the man of God. [2CHRON 8:14]

After consulting with the people, he appointed some to sing to the LORD and some to praise the holy Appearance as it went forth at the head of the army. They sang: "Give thanks to the LORD, for his mercy endures forever." [2CHRON 20:21]

King Hezekiah and the princes then commanded the Levites to sing the praises of the LORD in the words of David and of Asaph the seer. They sang praises till their joy was full, then fell down and prostrated themselves. [2CHRON 29:30]

Thus the Israelites who were in Jerusalem celebrated the feast of Unleavened Bread with great rejoicing for seven days, and the Levites and the priests sang the praises of the LORD day after day with all their strength. [2CHRON 30:21]

When the builders had laid the foundation of the LORD'S temple, the vested priests with the trumpets and the Levites, sons of Asaph, were stationed there with the cymbals to praise the LORD in the manner laid down by David, king of Israel. They alternated in songs of praise and thanksgiving to the LORD, "for he is good, for his kindness to Israel endures forever"; and all the people raised a great shout of joy, praising the LORD because the foundation of the LORD'S house had been laid. [EZRA 3:10-11]

Then Ezra, the priest, stood up and said to them: "Your unfaithfulness in taking foreign women as wives has added to Israel's guilt. But now, give praise to the LORD, the God of your fathers, and do his will: separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from these foreign women." [EZRA 10:10-11]

I also shook out the folds of my garment, saying, "Thus may God shake from his home and his fortune every man who fails to keep this promise, and may he thus be shaken out and emptied!" And the whole assembly answered, "Amen," and praised the LORD. Then the people did as they had promised. [NEH 5:13]

Thus they would praise his good deeds in my presence and relate to him whatever I said; and Tobiah sent letters trying to frighten me. [NEH 6:19]

The Levites Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah said, "Arise, bless the LORD, your God, from eternity to eternity!" The Israelites answered with the blessing, "Blessed is your glorious name, and exalted above all blessing and praise." [NEH 9:5]

For the heads of the families of the singers and the hymns of praise and thanksgiving to God came down from the days of David and Asaph in times of old. [NEH 12:46]

She got up, and they started to pray and beg that deliverance might be theirs. He began with these words: "Blessed are you, O God of our fathers; praised be your name forever and ever. Let the heavens and all your creation praise you forever." [TOBIT 8:5]

Then Raguel praised the God of heaven in these words: "Blessed are you, O God, with every holy and pure blessing! Let all your chosen ones praise you; let them bless you forever!" [Taken from TOBIT 8:15]

When Tobit saw his son, he threw his arms around him and wept. He exclaimed, "I can see you, son, the light of my eyes!" Then he said: "Blessed be God, and praised be his great name, and blessed be all his holy angels. May his holy name be praised throughout all the ages, Because it was he who scourged me, and it is he who has had mercy on me. Behold, I now see my son Tobiah!" Then Tobit went back in, rejoicing and praising God with full voice. Tobiah told his father that his journey had been a success; that he had brought back the money; and that he had married Raguel's daughter Sarah, who would arrive shortly, for she was approaching the gate of Nineveh. Rejoicing and praising God, Tobit went out to the gate of Nineveh to meet his daughter-in-law. When the people of Nineveh saw him walking along briskly, with no one leading him by the hand, they were amazed. [Taken from TOBIT 11:13-16]

Raphael called the two men aside privately and said to them: "Thank God! Give him the praise and the glory. Before all the living, acknowledge the many good things he has done for you, by blessing and extolling his name in song. Before all men, honor and proclaim God's deeds, and do not be slack in praising him. A king's secret it is prudent to keep, but the works of God are to be declared and made known. Praise them with due honor. Do good, and evil will not find its way to you." [TOBIT 12:6-7]

But Raphael said to them: "No need to fear; you are safe. Thank God now and forever. As for me, when I came to you it was not out of any favor on my part, but because it was God's will. So continue to thank him every day; praise him with song. Even though you watched me eat and drink. I did not really do so; what you were seeing was a vision. So now get up from the ground and praise God. Behold, I am about to ascend to him who sent me; write down all these things that have happened to you." When Raphael ascended they rose to their feet and could no longer see him. They kept thanking God and singing his praises; and they continued to acknowledge these marvelous deeds which he had done when the angel of God appeared to them. [TOBIT 12:17-22]

Praise him, you Israelites, before the Gentiles, for though he has scattered you among them, he has shown you his greatness even there. Exalt him before every living being, because he is the Lord our God, our Father and God forever. He scourged you for your iniquities, but will again have mercy on you all. He will gather you from all the Gentiles among whom you have been scattered. When you turn back to him with all your heart, to do what is right before him, Then he will turn back to you, and no longer hide his face from you. So now consider what he has done for you, and praise him with full voice. Bless the Lord of righteousness, and exalt the King of the ages. In the land of my exile I praise him, and show his power and majesty to a sinful nation. "Turn back, you sinners! do the right before him: perhaps he may look with favor upon you and show you mercy." [TOBIT 13:3-6]

"Let all men speak of his majesty, and sing his praises in Jerusalem." [TOBIT 13:8]

Praise the Lord for his goodness, and bless the King of the ages, so that his tent may be rebuilt in you with joy. May he gladden within you all who were captives; all who were ravaged may he cherish within you for all generations to come. A bright light will shine to all parts of the earth; many nations shall come to you from afar, And the inhabitants of all the limits of the earth, drawn to you by the name of the Lord God, Bearing in their hands their gifts for the King of heaven. Every generation shall give joyful praise in you, and shall call you the chosen one, through all ages forever. [TOBIT 13:10-11]

Jerusalem shall be rebuilt as his home forever. Happy for me if a remnant of my offspring survive to see your glory and to praise the King of heaven! The gates of Jerusalem shall be built with sapphire and emerald, and all your walls with precious stones. The towers of Jerusalem shall be built with gold, and their battlements with pure gold. The streets of Jerusalem shall be paved with rubies and stones of Ophir; The gates of Jerusalem shall sing hymns of gladness, and all her houses shall cry out, "Alleluia! Blessed be God who has raised you up! may he be blessed for all ages!" For in you they shall praise his holy name forever. The end of Tobit's hymn of praise. [TOBIT 13:16-18]

Tobit died peacefully at the age of a hundred and twelve, and received an honorable burial in Nineveh. He was sixty-two years old when he lost his eyesight, and after he recovered it he lived in prosperity, giving alms and continually blessing God and praising the divine Majesty. [TOBIT 14:1-2]

But before he died, he heard of the destruction of Nineveh and saw its effects. He witnessed the exile of the city's inhabitants when Cyaxares, king of Media, led them captive into Media. Tobiah praised God for all that he had done against the citizens of Nineveh and Assyria. Before dying he rejoiced over Nineveh's destruction, and he blessed the Lord God forever and ever. Amen. [TOBIT 14:15]

Then they reassured Achior and praised him highly. [JDTH 6:20]

Judith urged them with a loud voice: "Praise God, praise him! Praise God, who has not withdrawn his mercy from the house of Israel, but has shattered our enemies by my hand this very night." [JDTH 13:14]

Judith led all Israel in this song of thanksgiving, and the people swelled this hymn of praise: "Strike up the instruments, a song to my God with timbrels, chant to the Lord with cymbals; Sing to him a new song, exalt and acclaim his name. For the Lord is God; he crushes warfare, and sets his encampment among his people; he snatched me from the hands of my persecutors." [Taken from JDTH 15:14, 16:1-2]

"Hear my prayer; have pity on your inheritance and turn our sorrow into joy: thus we shall live to sing praise to your name, O Lord. Do not silence those who praise you." [ESTH C:10]

But now we have sinned in your sight, and you have delivered us into the hands of our enemies, because we worshiped their gods. You are just, O Lord. But now they are not satisfied with our bitter servitude, but have undertaken to do away with the decree you have pronounced, and to destroy your heritage; to close the mouths of those who praise you, and to extinguish the glory of your temple and your altar; to open the mouths of the heathen to acclaim their false gods, and to extol an earthly king forever. "O Lord, do not relinquish your scepter to those that are nought. Let them not gloat over our ruin, but turn their own counsel against them and make an example of our chief enemy. Be mindful of us, O Lord. Manifest yourself in the time of our distress and give me courage, King of gods and Ruler of every power." [Taken from ESTH C:17-23]

On the anniversary of the day on which the Gentiles had defiled it, on that very day it was reconsecrated with songs, harps, flutes, and cymbals. All the people prostrated themselves and adored and praised Heaven, who had given them success. [1MACC 4:54-55]

The valiant Judas and his brothers were greatly renowned in all Israel and among all the Gentiles, wherever their name was heard; and men gathered about them and praised them. [1MACC 5:63-64]

So Simon came to terms with them and did not destroy them. He made them leave the city, however, and he purified the houses in which there were idols. Then he entered the city with hymns and songs of praise. [1MACC 13:47]

While he lay speechless and deprived of all hope of aid, due to an act of God's power, the Jews praised the Lord who had marvelously glorified his holy Place; and the temple, charged so shortly before with fear and commotion, was filled with joy and gladness, now that the almighty Lord had manifested himself. [2MACC 3:29-30]

They collected the enemy's arms and stripped them of their spoils, and then observed the sabbath with fervent praise and thanks to the Lord who kept them safe for that day on which he let descend on them the first dew of his mercy. [2MACC 8:27]

On the anniversary of the day on which the temple had been profaned by the Gentiles, that is, the twenty-fifth of the same month Chislev, the purification of the temple took place. The Jews celebrated joyfully for eight days as on the feast of Booths, remembering how, a little while before, they had spent the feast of Booths living like wild animals in caves on the mountains. Carrying rods entwined with leaves, green branches and palms, they sang hymns of grateful praise to him who had brought about the purification of his own Place. By public edict and decree they prescribed that the whole Jewish nation should celebrate these days every year. [2MACC 10:5-8]

On completing these exploits, they blessed, with hymns of grateful praise, the Lord who shows great kindness to Israel and grants them victory. [2MACC 10:38]

They all therefore praised the ways of the Lord, the just judge who brings to light the things that are hidden. [2MACC 12:41]

At this, everyone looked toward heaven and praised the Lord who manifests his divine power, saying, "Blessed be he who has kept his own Place undefiled!" [2MACC 15:34]

Remember, you should extol his work, which men have praised in song. [JOB 36:24]

Praised be the LORD, I exclaim! I have been delivered from my enemies. [PS 18:4]

The LORD lives! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be God, my savior! O God who granted me vindication, made peoples subject to me, and preserved me from my enemies, Truly you have exalted me above my adversaries, from the violent you have rescued me. Thus I will proclaim you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name. You have given great victories to your king, and shown kindness to your anointed, to David and his posterity forever. [PS 18:47-51]

Arise, LORD, in your power! We will sing and chant the praise of your might. [PS 21:14]

"You who fear the LORD, give praise! All descendants of Jacob, give honor; show reverence, all descendants of Israel! For God has not spurned or disdained the misery of this poor wretch, Did not turn away from me, but heard me when I cried out. I will offer praise in the great assembly; my vows I will fulfill before those who fear him. The poor will eat their fill; those who seek the LORD will offer praise. May your hearts enjoy life forever!" [PS 22:24-27]

I will bless the LORD at all times; praise shall be always in my mouth. My soul will glory in the LORD that the poor may hear and be glad. Magnify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.  [PS 34:2-4]

Put to shame and confound all who relish my misfortune. Clothe with shame and disgrace those who lord it over me. But let those who favor my just cause shout for joy and be glad. May they ever say, "Exalted be the LORD who delights in the peace of his loyal servant." Then my tongue shall recount your justice, declare your praise, all the day long. [PS 35:26-28]

My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you From the land of the Jordan and Hermon, from the land of Mount Mizar. Here deep calls to deep in the roar of your torrents. All your waves and breakers sweep over me. At dawn may the LORD bestow faithful love that I may sing praise through the night, praise to the God of my life. [PS 42:7-9]

Grant me justice, God; defend me from a faithless people; from the deceitful and unjust rescue me. You, God, are my strength. Why then do you spurn me? Why must I go about mourning, with the enemy oppressing me? Send your light and fidelity, that they may be my guide And bring me to your holy mountain, to the place of your dwelling, That I may come to the altar of God, to God, my joy, my delight. Then I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God. Why are you downcast, my soul? Why do you groan within me? Wait for God, whom I shall praise again, my savior and my God. [PS 43:1-5]

God mounts the throne amid shouts of joy; the LORD, amid trumpet blasts. Sing praise to God, sing praise; sing praise to our king, sing praise. [PS 47:6-7]

God is king over all the earth; sing hymns of praise. God rules over the nations; God sits upon his holy throne. The princes of the peoples assemble with the people of the God of Abraham. For the rulers of the earth belong to God, who is enthroned on high. [PS 47:8-10]

Great is the LORD and highly praised in the city of our God: The holy mountain, fairest of heights, the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, the heights of Zaphon, the city of the great king. [PS 48:2-3]

[PS 68:5-7]

You kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; chant the praises of the Lord, Selah Who rides the heights of the ancient heavens, whose voice is thunder, mighty thunder. They never cease to praise you. [Taken from PS 84:2-5]

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praise to your name, Most High, To proclaim your love in the morning, your faithfulness in the night, With the ten-stringed harp, with melody upon the lyre. For you make me jubilant, LORD, by your deeds; at the works of your hands I shout for joy. [PS 92:2-5]

Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD; cry out to the rock of our salvation. Let us greet him with a song of praise, joyfully sing out our psalms. [PS 95:1-2]

The LORD loves those who hate evil, protects the lives of the faithful, rescues them from the hand of the wicked. Light dawns for the just; gladness, for the honest of heart. Rejoice in the LORD, you just, and praise his holy name. [PS 97:10-12]

Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth; break into song; sing praise. Sing praise to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and melodious song. With trumpets and the sound of the horn shout with joy to the King, the LORD. Let the sea and what fills it resound, the world and those who dwell there. Let the rivers clap their hands, the mountains shout with them for joy, Before the LORD who comes, who comes to govern the earth, To govern the world with justice and the peoples with fairness. [PS 98:4-9]

The LORD is king, the peoples tremble; God is enthroned on the cherubim, the earth quakes. The LORD is great on Zion, exalted above all the peoples. Let them praise your great and awesome name: Holy is God! [PS 99:1-3]

Know that the LORD is God, our maker to whom we belong, whose people we are, God's well-tended flock. Enter the temple gates with praise, its courts with thanksgiving. Give thanks to God, bless his name; good indeed is the LORD, Whose love endures forever, whose faithfulness lasts through every age. [PS 100:3-5]

I sing of love and justice; to you, LORD, I sing praise. [PS 101:1]

Let this be written for the next generation, for a people not yet born, that they may praise the LORD [Taken from PS 102:19]

I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I live. May my theme be pleasing to God; I will rejoice in the LORD. [PS 104:33-34]

Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the peoples his deeds! Sing praise, play music; proclaim all his wondrous deeds! Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD! [PS 105:1-3]

Who can tell the mighty deeds of the LORD, proclaim in full God's praise? [PS 106:2]

Save us, LORD, our God; gather us from among the nations That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you. [PS 106:47]

Let them thank the LORD for such kindness, such wondrous deeds for mere mortals. Let them praise him in the assembly of the people, give thanks in the council of the elders. [PS 107:31-32]

My heart is steadfast, God; my heart is steadfast. I will sing and chant praise. Awake, my soul; awake, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn. I will praise you among the peoples, LORD; I will chant your praise among the nations. For your love towers to the heavens; your faithfulness, to the skies. Appear on high over the heavens, God; may your glory appear above all the earth. Help with your right hand and answer us that your loved ones may escape. [PS 108:2-7]

O God, whom I praise, do not be silent, for wicked and treacherous mouths attack me. They speak against me with lying tongues; with hateful words they surround me, attacking me without cause. In return for my love they slander me, even though I prayed for them. They repay me evil for good, hatred for my love. [Taken from PS 109:2-5]

Though they curse, may you bless; shame my foes, that your servant may rejoice. Clothe my accusers with disgrace; make them wear shame like a mantle. I will give fervent thanks to the LORD; before all I will praise my God. For God stands at the right hand of the poor to defend them against unjust accusers. [PS 109:28-31]

Hallelujah. I will praise the LORD with all my heart in the assembled congregation of the upright. Great are the works of the LORD, to be treasured for all their delights. Majestic and glorious is your work, your wise design endures forever. You won renown for your wondrous deeds; gracious and merciful is the LORD. You gave food to those who fear you, mindful of your covenant forever. You showed powerful deeds to your people, giving them the lands of the nations. The works of your hands are right and true, reliable all your decrees, Established forever and ever, to be observed with loyalty and care. You sent deliverance to your people, ratified your covenant forever; holy and awesome is your name. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; prudent are all who live by it. Your praise endures forever. [PS 111:1-10]

Hallelujah! Praise, you servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. Blessed be the name of the LORD both now and forever. From the rising of the sun to its setting let the name of the LORD be praised. [PS 113:1-3]

I will praise you with sincere heart as I study your just edicts. I will keep your laws; do not leave me all alone. [PS 119:7-8]

Though the snares of the wicked surround me, your teaching I do not forget. At midnight I rise to praise you because your edicts are just. I am the friend of all who fear you, of all who keep your precepts. [PS 119:61-63]

I am very much afflicted, LORD; give me life in accord with your word. Accept my freely offered praise; LORD, teach me your decrees. My life is always at risk, but I do not forget your teaching. [PS 119:107-109]

Falsehood I hate and abhor; your teaching I love. Seven times a day I praise you because your edicts are just. Lovers of your teaching have much peace; for them there is no stumbling block. [PS 119:163-165]

Let my cry come before you, LORD; in keeping with your word give me discernment. Let my prayer come before you; rescue me according to your promise. May my lips pour forth your praise, because you teach me your laws. May my tongue sing of your promise, for all your commands are just. Keep your hand ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. I long for your salvation, LORD; your teaching is my delight. Let me live to praise you; may your edicts give me help. I have wandered like a lost sheep; seek out your servant, for I do not forget your commands. [PS 119:169-176]

Hallelujah! Praise the name of the LORD! Praise, you servants of the LORD, Who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God! Praise the LORD; the LORD is good! Sing to God's name; it is gracious! [PS 135:1-3]

Praise the LORD, who is so good; God's love endures forever [Taken from PS 136:1]

I bow low toward your holy temple; I praise your name for your fidelity and love. For you have exalted over all your name and your promise. [PS 138:2]

All the kings of earth will praise you, LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth. They will sing of the ways of the LORD: "How great is the glory of the LORD!" [PS 138:4-5]

You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother's womb. I praise you, so wonderfully you made me; wonderful are your works! My very self you knew; my bones were not hidden from you, When I was being made in secret, fashioned as in the depths of the earth. Your eyes foresaw my actions; in your book all are written down; my days were shaped, before one came to be. [PS 139:13-16]

I will extol you, my God and king; I will bless your name forever. Every day I will bless you; I will praise your name forever. Great is the LORD and worthy of high praise; God's grandeur is beyond understanding. One generation praises your deeds to the next and proclaims your mighty works. They speak of the splendor of your majestic glory, tell of your wonderful deeds. They speak of your fearsome power and attest to your great deeds. They publish the renown of your abounding goodness and joyfully sing of your justice. The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love. The LORD is good to all, compassionate to every creature. [PS 145:1-9]

My mouth will speak your praises, LORD; all flesh will bless your holy name forever. [PS 145:21]

Praise the LORD, my soul; I shall praise the LORD all my life, sing praise to my God while I live. [PS 146:2]

Hallelujah! I How good to celebrate our God in song; how sweet to give fitting praise. [PS 147:1]

Glorify the LORD, Jerusalem; Zion, offer praise to your God, Who has strengthened the bars of your gates, blessed your children within you, Brought peace to your borders, and filled you with finest wheat. [PS 147:12-14]

Hallelujah! Praise the LORD from the heavens; give praise in the heights. Praise him, all you angels; give praise, all you hosts. Praise him, sun and moon; give praise, all shining stars. Praise him, highest heavens, you waters above the heavens. Let them all praise the LORD'S name; for the LORD commanded and they were created, Assigned them duties forever, gave them tasks that will never change. Praise the LORD from the earth, you sea monsters and all deep waters; You lightning and hail, snow and clouds, storm winds that fulfill his command; You mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars; You animals wild and tame, you creatures that crawl and fly; You kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all who govern on earth; Young men and women too, old and young alike. Let them all praise the LORD'S name, for his name alone is exalted, majestic above earth and heaven. The LORD has lifted high the horn of his people; to the glory of all the faithful, of Israel, the people near to their God. Hallelujah! [PS 148:1-14]

Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song, a hymn in the assembly of the faithful. Let Israel be glad in their maker, the people of Zion rejoice in their king. Let them praise his name in festive dance, make music with tambourine and lyre. For the LORD takes delight in his people, honors the poor with victory. [PS 149:1-4]

Hallelujah! Praise God in his holy sanctuary; give praise in the mighty dome of heaven. Give praise for his mighty deeds, praise him for his great majesty. Give praise with blasts upon the horn, praise him with harp and lyre. Give praise with tambourines and dance, praise him with flutes and strings. Give praise with crashing cymbals, praise him with sounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath give praise to the LORD! Hallelujah! [PS 150:1-6]

According to his good sense a man is praised, but one with a warped mind is despised. [PROV 12:8]

Let another praise you - not your own mouth; Someone else - not your own lips. [PROV 27:2]

As the crucible tests silver and the furnace gold, so a man is tested by the praise he receives. [PROV 27:21]

Those who abandon the law praise the wicked man, but those who keep the law war against him. [PROV 28:4]

When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize. She brings him good, and not evil, all the days of her life. She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and on her tongue is kindly counsel. She watches the conduct of her household, and eats not her food in idleness. Her children rise up and praise her; her husband, too, extols her: "Many are the women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all." Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her a reward of her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates. [Taken from PROV 31:10-12,20,26-31]

Meanwhile I saw wicked men approach and enter; and as they left the sacred place, they were praised in the city for what they had done. This also is vanity. [ECCL 8:10]
